Fantasy Football Week 5: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Kickers

Start ‘Em, Seat ‘Em provides a comprehensive look at the best and most disappointing matchups based in part on a PPR scoring system for fantasy football.

Week 5 Kickers

Start of the Week

Daniel Carlson vs. Bears (5:05 p.m. ET, CBS): Carlson is still one of the best fantasy football kickers, averaging 10 PPG per game. This week, he should be thriving against a Bears defense which has allowed him to kickers at 9.6 fantasy points per game. Carlson is a top five option, I believe.

Start ‘Em

Ryan Succop vs. Dolphins (1 p.m. ET, CBS. Succop hasn’t had huge fantasy points so far and is currently tied for 13th place among kickers. However, I expect him to have a good game against the Dolphins. Their defense has surrendered eight field goals and is tied with the Dolphins for seventh place in terms of points allowed to kickers in 2021.

Greg Joseph vs. Lions (1.30 p.m. ET, Fox: Joseph gave up a one-point stinker in last week’s loss to Browns. But I like Joseph to rebound in what should be a positive matchup with the Lions. Their defense has allowed kickers an average of 30 fantasy points over their last two games. Joseph is expected to be a top-10 fantasy scorer.

More Starts

Brandon McManus at Steelers (1:00 p.m. ET, Fox

Matt Prater vs. 49ers (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox

Randy Bullock at Jaguars (1. p.m. ET, CBS

Aldrick Rosas at Football Team ( ET, CBS

Week 5 Sit’Em: The Kickers

Sit of Week

Mason Crosby at Bengals ( ET, FOX: Crosby is hot lately, scoring a total of 25 fantasy points in two of his last games. He’ll likely see a decline against Bengals however. Their defense has allowed only 5.6 fantasy point per game to kickers and no kicker has registered more than eight points against them.

Sit & Relax

Graham Gano at Cowboys (4:25 p.m. ET, FOX – Gano has scored 13 combined goals in his previous two games. The matchup against Cowboys doesn’t look very promising on paper. They have only allowed one kicker to score more than seven fantasy goals in games against them, while opposing teams have made just four field goal attempts.

Chris Boswell vs. Broncos (1. pm. ET, FOX: Boswell has scored a meagre 7.3 fantasy points in four of his first four games. This will be his ceiling against this week’s Broncos. Boswell should be kept on the bench as their defense has only allowed three field goal conversions and surrendered second-fewest fantasy goals to opposing kickers.
